I love yoga. And I also don't mind a drink. I know that's a very un 'om' admission, but the more I admit it, the more I find others who feel the same way. I don't drink a lot, but I do enjoy a glass of wine now + then (ok, I also have a major weakness for margarita's if they are made fresh + just right). It seems the yoga community is catching up with people's differences in lifestyles, and designing experiences that cater to all sorts of yogis. First, there was Yoga For Bad People, a NY based yoga retreat company that offers yoga vacations where certain types of fun are embraced & encouraged. When we founded RE:treat, we could really resonate with Yoga For Bad People, as we too encourage meat eating, wine drinking + general naughtiness on our yoga retreats. Don't get me wrong, we don't really want our guests getting blasted every night + partying the night away night-after-night, but we recognize that a yoga retreat is also a vacation, and guests should be able to let their hair down as they please without feeling judged… bad yogi!
Just last week, Epicure & Culture complied a list of the "World's Top Boozy Yoga Vacations". In the article, Gemma King highlights retreats in the Napa Valley, the Maldives & Umbria, Italy, as some of the top retreat experiences for those who don't mind a drink & downward dog. Gemma writes,
On first consideration, drinking and yoga may seem rather incompatible. If, like me, you’ve occasionally had one too many glasses of red wine before heading to an hour of vinyasa and downward dog, you may have reservations about combining the two. But trust me: these two contrasting activities can actually come together to create a truly relaxing and rejuvenating vacation.
If I had my pick, I would go for the Grape Picking + Yoga in Argentina.
At the Vines of Mendoza, in one of South America’s finest wine regions, you can pick grapes, make your own wine, blend a Malbec or simply sample award-winning Argentinian drops. Add yoga classes in a studio with 180-degree views of the Andes Mountains and you have the perfect vacation. Prices start from approximately $700; click here for further information.

In 2015, RE:treat will be hosting a number of yoga retreat experiences in the USA + Europe where we will enjoy a tipple from time to time. Join us in the Italian Dolomites for Yoga + Hiking in September of 2015, or in Greece for a luxurious Relais & Chateaux seaside retreat in October.
