Ayurvedic Fall Cleanse

Celebrities swear by them to detox diet, brighten skin, lose weight, or just start fresh into summer or winter. If you search the internet, there is a cleanse for pretty much every single organ of our body, for every single season, or purpose. 

In my opinion, the most common cleanses involve juicing. Well, living at high altitude and in a very cold and dry environment, juice cleanses don't serve the body as well and usually, people get really frustrated because the cleanse is so hard. 
Ayurveda is the "Science of Life" and traditionally practiced in India. Ayurvedic cleanses can be a little different to other cleanses.
Here is why:

  1. Don't starve! You eat a vegan, Ayurvedic diet that is prescribed by an Ayurvedic practitioner and suitable for all bodily constitutions throughout the entire cleanse. During the main cleanse (4 days) you mainly eat Kitchadi - a yummy, traditional Ayurvedic rice & mung bean dish. So no juicing, no fasting, no starving! 

  2. Herbs: herbal supplement are taken throughout the cleanse in order to help the body detox its internal organs such as liver, colon etc.

  3. Daily Routine: incorporate yogic and healthy routines! From getting up, oil baths, meditation and yoga practices to not watching TV after 6 pm and going to bed early

Generally speaking, fall and spring are the best time for a cleanse. You are getting ready for the another season and it is nice to re-set the body & mind.
