We all go to yoga for different reasons-stress relief, to breath, move, sweat, exercise, meditate. Whatever the reason is the only requirement is presence-leave everything else you embody at the door.
Each time I step into the studio to practice I do my best to check all but this very moment at the door. It is quite difficult to focus on a moving meditation when you are tripping over baggage filled with honey-dos and what-ifs. You can all relate to this. In fact, I am sure your teacher has mentioned the carousel number to pick up checked bags after final savasana. A reoccurring question pops into my mind each time I roll up my mat and wipe the loads of sweat from my third eye- do you ever wonder what thoughts, emotions, idiosyncrasies, adventures your favorite teachers leave at the door?
I go to yoga to be inspired, to absorb the lessons of my teachers, and I am curious how those who motivate me on the mat, motivate themselves off the mat. This constant wonder has morphed into what I call Yogis Gone Wild- a series that acts as a vessel into what makes that favorite teacher truly wild.
There are similar parallels to how RE:treat came to fruition. Our retreats celebrate adventure by allowing you to let your hair down, change the way you think about your everyday life, teach, learn, and ultimately have a fantastic time doing it. You are the yogi gone wild!
